LECTURE - HOUSE OF LITERATURE -  SATURDAY 10th OF JUNE  2100

"Surely I am coming back soon." The Bibles penultimate verse prophesying Jesus Christ's return remains one of history's defining sentences. Christians have waited two thousand years for the second coming of Christ, when he will bring about the End Times, judge mankind and correct our hopelessly flawed existence.

According to Jonas Bendiksen's latest project The Last Testament the wait is now finally over. The End Times are already here and Jesus walks among us. Bendiksen arrives straight from the printing presses to share his new book project. He has spent the last three years following seven men who all claim to be the biblical Messiah. Bendiksen conducts a deep dive into each of these modern Messiahs' revelations, their disciples daily life and our longing for faith, meaning and a new prophet. This will be the first preview of the Norwegian photographers newest book, which will be published September 2017.

The Norwegian photographer Jonas Bendiksen (b.1977) started his career as a 19 year old learning the ropes of the industry at Magnums London office. After having worked there as an intern for a year, he went to Russia in order to become a photographer on his own. This journey led to his first book Satellites (Aperture 2006) and soon after his second book and multimedial project The Places We Live (Aperture 2008). Bendiksen became an official member of Magnum in 2004.
