Katinka Hustad
Bio
Katinka Hustad (b. 1991) is a Norwegian photojournalist working as a staff photographer in the Norwegian weekly newspaper Morgenbladet. She graduated with a BA in photojournalism from Oslo University College in 2015 and has since received both national and international awards, including a third place in the short film category in World Press Photo 2016. In 2018 she was awarded the Picture of The Year in Norway for a image from her long-term project Russian Suburbia. She has also participated in the Joop Swart Masterclass in Amsterdam (2018) and Norwegian Journal of Photography #5 (2019-2021).
In 2022 she graduated with a master’s degree in Documentary film at The Norwegian Film School. She started working with the project Short Story of Longing (2024) as her master thesis, and it resulted in a short documentary film where she investigates personal family history and her own archival footage.The film premiered at The Norwegian Short Film Festival in 2024.

Synopsis: The thirty-year-old filmmaker starts spending time at her grandmother’s house eavesdropping at her father and his new family. She seeks answers for the distance she feels between her and her father. Where does the absence come from? While having phone calls with her two sisters, the filmmaker starts a personal investigation, looking into the past and her family tree.
