Jabin Botsford (US)

Bio

Jabin Botsford is a Pulitzer Prize–winning photojournalist and visual storyteller documenting power, politics, and the defining moments of contemporary America. For eleven years (2015–2026), he served as a staff photographer for The Washington Post, where his work chronicled elections, politics, breaking news, disasters, sports, and in-depth feature stories, both nationally and internationally. Since 2014, he has extensively documented U.S. presidential campaigns and administrations, especially that of Donald Trump.

Botsford was a key member of the 2025 Pulitzer Prize–winning team, recognized in the “Breaking News Reporting” category for coverage of the July 13, 2024 assassination attempt on Donald Trump. He was specifically cited for his first-person video footage, captured using Ray-Ban Meta glasses, and still photography from the scene as well as his reporting contributions. His work has also contributed to several of The Washington Post’s major award-winning projects, including the 2022 Pulitzer Prize for Public Service for coverage of the January 6 U.S. Capitol attack. 

His creativity and commitment to excellence has earned him international recognition, including honors from World Press Photo, Pictures of the Year International, NPPA’s Best of Photojournalism. He has been named White House News Photographers Association Photographer of the Year three times. 

Originally from Florida, Botsford studied photojournalism and sociology at Western Kentucky University and now lives in Washington, DC.
